Okay...for those who've seen any of my previous posts, you know it's been a few years that this move from Detroit to AZ has been in the thought and planning stage. Well, I just returned from my final pre-move trip to AZ a week ago and I do have my move date set. July 1, AZ...make room for trouble!

I'll be moving to an apartment in Surprise, hoping that all goes well because I do have alot to accomplish in the next ~2 months. Just wanted to update you guys...and for those in Surprise, can you give me a heads up of things to do, or nice places to see in and nearby the area?

My family and I just moved to Surprise last month. The White Tank Regional park is great for walking and hiking. Of course the baseball games during the season. They also have a great park with activities. I live at the pool on weekends.

It's best to rent first, to get to know the area. Phoenix has over 5 million people and is very spread out so it will take awhile to understand the areas.

Hope you find Surprise to be everything you want in AZ. If you want to have a little variety in eating places, drive down Bell to 83rd. That is the Peoria Sports Complex and there is a stadium there for spring training and tons of restaurants and bars as well as a Harkins theater. Enjoy and welcome.

The OP has been planning this move for a long time, doing the necessary homework... looks like the decision has been made. Not too helpful to question it now.

Not quite yet:

Phoenix (the City itself) = 1.45 million

Metro Phoenix:= 4.2 million
