I am looking for cheap internet access for a condo. I see that Cox offers an Essential plan for:

$29.99 per month
Promotion Price for 6 months.
Regularly $39.99 thereafter.

Is there anything cheaper than that. All I want to do is surf the web and read email.

Thanks in advance for the help.

You don't really have a lot of options. Cox and Century Link are the primary Internet providers with Century Link being slightly cheaper. I have cox high speed Internet so I'm biased. I find Cox to be fast and reliable if all you want to do is surf the web. Don't get Cox cable though it is so overpriced for what you get. Directv is a much better deal for tv(IMO). Hope I helped.

I am not looking for TV, just internet for the moment. What happened to all those basic high speed internet plans for $19.99?

CenturyLink is advertising $24.99/mo. for stand-alone internet or $19.99 when you bundle.

I think cheap internet went the way of modems?

There is free wi-fi in a lot of public places now.

Be aware that many of these promotions require a contract. ela

Netzero released a new deal a few weeks ago for cheap(er) internet, which seemed pretty good for users who don't spend much time on the internet. I don't know if Phoenix was one of the area's included in the initial roll out.

Otherwise, the other information you've received is spot on.

I have Cox. Issues aside, I have the LOWEST tier which is $20 a month. They may not advertise it anymore. This tier has been just fine for my needs. A contract was required though. At a later point, we have bundled it with TV.
