Oh I'm sure MB is selling like hotcakes now. It's nice out there!

Desert Ridge feels like a commercial mecca but MB isn't far at all from a ton of retail. Can you see on the map that Superstition Springs area at I-60 and Power? Pretty much everything is there, and there's lot of other retail down Power Rd. from McDowell southward. I'm about twice as far from Sup. Springs and that's about my closest major retail, so MB doesn't seem remote to me. It does have a bit of nothingness to the east and north but I kind of like that.

I guess it depends on who you ask. I can almost assure your home values will be more steady in the Fireside home in Desert Ridge as that would be a much more desirable place to live (one of the more desirable in the valley). It's also my understanding they are quickly selling homes up there. For better or worse, this forum is filled with people who mostly live in far off suburbs rather than in centrally located areas of the valley and the views get to be a bit uneven. It's not to say that far off suburbs aren't great, I just don't know how anyone lives way out unless that's what they want. In addition, Fireside has a ton of kids and the public school there is very good and walkable if I recall. There are a couple of informative blogs about desert ridge I can direct you to if you want to message me.

If you look at a map of the whole Phx area, Desert Ridge is about as 'far out' as Mountain Bridge. Both are on the outskirts, both are about the same distance to downtown. To us in the east valley, Desert Ridge feels remote. It's just in your point of reference.

But like the OP said, the homes there are more expensive and have smaller lots, so it's obviously got something that people want more, and that could well be location. Mesa isn't known for being a hotbed of entertainment or diversity and there are more bad parts of Mesa than good. That northeast section is pretty good. There are many affluent neighborhoods in that part of Mesa.
