Okay. I started my life journey in TN & then relocated to Austin, TX. Austin was more expensive and i didn't necessarily like the people. I then moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fl where I am now and i love it - lots of things to do, i love the beach, the weather rocks etc-... EXCEPT that the cost of living is effin ridiculous & this is definitely not where I'd like to raise an impressionable daughter. A friend in Mesa asked me to move there & I'm wondering how it compares. Any help would be mucho appreciated!

In my opinion, there is less to do and it costs more to live here. Careful what area of Mesa you live in. Some areas are beautiful (which will be more expensive) and others are ghetto = cheap.
Remember, this is a warm weather town also, so we don't wear a lot of clothes either! Maybe a nice midway point would be a great place for you, say, Virginia. I lived in an area called Midlothian (just south of Richmond) and it was beautiful, friendly, inexpensive and there was always something to do.
Best of luck to you!
