Hi, I am a new teacher to the area. I will be teaching around 2043 North 64th Drive
Phoenix. I don't know the area and am having a hard time finding a place with good reviews and in a safe area. I am looking in the price range of $500-$750. I only need a one bedroom or studio. Thanks to anyone who can help

That is NOT a good area. For your price range you can find something, but if you want to live in a nicer area you will have to commute a bit. You're right off a freeway (I-10) so that's a plus. You might be able to find a good place more West of there, but I've never lived that way so I couldn't help you with first hand experience. Luckily our freeways are pretty good to get you from one area to another. Stay away from the East valley only due to how far you would have to commute. Maybe try Ahwatukee? Beautiful area, traffic may be rough though. Or the NW valley? Depends on what kind of neighborhood you want.

Ahwatukee would be too far for a regular commute, IMO, and the trafffic would be bad. I think going more west, or northwest up around the Westgate area of Glendale or Arrowhead further north, or more east but only as far as central Phoenix, would help you find something better. I can't recommend specific complexes, but if you widen your online search to include more distance from the school, and then look in those areas, you may have more luck.

I agree - look west and/or north for a nicer neighorhood and manageable commute. Do not look further south. You should easily be able to find a place in your price range in Glendale or Arrowhead. You could look in Central Phoenix to be a little more in the action (not sure of age or what kind of vibe you're looking for) but that would be a longer commute, maybe 30 minutes.

That's Maryvale and it's not the best place to live. You are near 67th Ave and Mc Dowell. But, by just going a few miles west past 83rd and 91st Avenue, you should find some apartments that are decent, modern, and comfortable, and still only be about 10 minutes from work.
