Gilbert, Chandler earn spots on 'Thriving Cities' list - East Valley Tribune: Gilbert

Quote:
Two East Valley municipalities each landed a spot on a list of 20 cities that continue to grow even in a slow economy.
The list of Thriving Cities, compiled by the website the Daily Beast, rates the 100 largest municipalities on several economic factors encompassing population growth, an improved housing market, the residents’ level of education and bond rating. Scottsdale was number 15 on the list.

Agree.

Out of the 3 options, I voted for Scottsdale. But if Tempe were on that list I would have easily had that be my first choice.

I like Tempe, Scottsdale, Gilbert and Chandler but I voted for Chandler because it is close to the activities of Tempe and Scottsdale without having the congestion and traffic issues.

Depends on where you are in Tempe. Unless you are up around the University, traffic/congestion there is no worse, and in some respects better, than parts of the other cities. I voted for Chandler of the three options because Tempe wasn't there, (and I live within a half mile of the Chandler city limits) but I like where I am.

None of the above. If I had to choose, it would be Scottsdale. Thankfully I have more choices. My favorite in the east valley is Fountain Hills.

I really like the area of Scottsdale around Cactus and the 101, the large lot properties. Not a fan of North Scottsdale, too much desert and too many oldsters. I chose Chandler because it is more family oriented and has great schools and more greenery as well as plenty of shopping and dining and not retiree central. Which is also the reason I chose to live in Chandler, and I could live anywhere in the valley I want

I agree, when you take everything into consideration Chandler is the overall winner.

Open question for anyone who cares to answer.

What would make Chandler more desirable than Scottsdale? I'm not trying to argue or say your wrong or anything like that, I'm just not seeing it...
