I recently visited phoenix from houston. I was taken aback at how much better they drive in phoenix vs. at home in houston. It was a sweet and welcome relief during my few days driving in your city. Overall, for the most part, your Drivers appeared to be much less aggressive and more considerate during my entire stay. Thanks for taking a routine stressor off of me for a few days. :-)

Personalities have been researched at great length and plotted by state. You can look that up on Google if you're really interested. Generally speaking, Arizonans are conscientious. That might have something to do with it.

Noticed the same thing upon moving here from Silicon Valley. Aside from more frequent violation of carpool lanes by singles than back home, and rampant tailgating in rush hour, drivers are overall much better here.

It's made my visit much more enjoyable for sure - particularly when driving in a city you have never been to before. I'm missing that courtesy at home. I'll think about all of you while I'm on my daily, highly aggressive commute.

I found the opposite to be true. I came from suburban Chicago, and thought the drivers here were obnoxious. Ive never seen so many accidents in my life as I have here. With that being said, having lived here awhile now, Ive become accustomed to the driving habits around here, and have "eased" into traffic habits better than I thought I would.

It's like any other big city, there are courteous drivers and rude ones alike.

Some of the worst are cab drivers, they are not so much aggressive as they are plain stupid, everything from driving too slow on the freeway to cutting across multiple lanes of traffic and nearly causing accidents.

I haven't had too many problems with drivers here overall, just heavy traffic during crush hour times and even that isn't anywhere near as bad as cities like Los Angeles or Chicago.

I still wish people would just leave a good following distance, stop talking/texting/etc. while driving, stop eating and putting on makeup...basically pay attention in rush hour and you won't get into accidents. 1 fender bender can cause miles of backup. Pay attention, watch your buffers and DRIVE.

I'm sure a lot has to do with the size of the city, freeway design, population. Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the country with a huge international population. Hundreds more moving there every day from all over the country. It's a traffic nightmare. But with so many newcomers, everyone is bringing the driving habits of where they come from as well -- sometimes that just doesn't mesh well. The floodgates are open. :-) I love it because it's home but traffic in phoenix, was pleasant.

Driving is amazing in Arizona I love it... once you get outside of Phoenix its a piece of cake thou. I like how fast you can drive in Arizona and not get pulled over.. you can go 90-95 easy from Phoenix and Tucson. The drivers in Phoenix did not seen that bad too me. My sister lives in Scottsdale and the drivers are not that bad.. the place the driving is bad is around Arizona St because of the traffic and in Downtown Phoenix.
