Can anyone give me an idea of the average electric bills for both winter and summer in the Phoenix area? I'm working on a spreadsheet to figure out costs for when I move.
Thanks!

That's not an easy question to answer because it depends on several factors. Size of the home, single vs two story, personal temperature preference.

Ours for example averages $250/month or about $3,000 per year.

Let's say a single family home, approx 1500-1800 square feet, one story. During summer I keep my place at 68-70 degrees at night; higher during the day when I'm not home. Winter about 72. But I'm in New York currently.

You won't keep it at 68-70, trust me.

But, our old house was just under 1900 sq ft, single story, with a pool and in 2012 we paid $2480 and in 2013 we paid $2636 for the year in electricity, so about $200/month for that size house.

Wow, my family would grow icicles here if we kept things at 68-70. Our usual cooling temp in summer is 75-76, winter heating temp is 73.

Unfortunately, we don't have any kind of consistent bills or usage - Bungle's got an excellent table here. Highest values in June-July-August-September, lowest in November-December-January-February-March, transitional in May and October. The highest cost (for cooling) is about 2x the lowest. The overall numbers seem a little low for us, but our usage pattern is similar.

I have not had the heat on for more than 10 minutes since December. (that 10 minutes was one morning when I woke up to 54 degrees in the house). Place stays at a constant 63-69 degrees and it feels fine. And I still sleep with a fan blowing on me!

In the summer I usually leave the temp at 84 during the day when I am gone, 78-80 when I am home.

We keep it at 78-80 in the summer, and 72 for heat in the winter (I'm a wimp). 2 story home, 2800sq ft with a pool, 2 adults here now, 1 in college in the summers. I work from home, so we have constant electric running all day, every day.

August and September were our highest bills at 356 and 375 respectively. Lowest was 82 in March. Our total for the year was $2372 so average a little less than $200 a month last year.
