Hi everyone,

Had a couple of questions about Westwing Mountain hiking and activity access. We are seriously considering moving to the Westwing Mountain community and wondered about getting to the hiking trails. Are there any trails from inside the neighborhood that lead to hiking trails? Or do residents have any type of pathways for easy access to hiking? Are there any bike (bicycle) or walking desert trails that are easy to get to from the neighborhoods? How active are the residents?

Any and all information is appreciated!

I don't live anywhere near there, but I've hiked the trails in that preserve. As I recall, the major trailhead is at Westwing Park; however, there are numerous small trails that branch off to various cul-de-sacs in the area. You can see them on a satellite image of the preserve.

There is at least one official entrance to the Peoria Westwing Mountain Preserve from within the community. It is a gorgeous preserve as well. In addition, you have the equally convenient Peoria Sunrise Mountain Preserve, not to mention Peoria Eastwing, Phoenix Thunderbird, and Phoenix Deem Hills just a bit farther. It's a fantastic area if you're into hiking and nature. Let me know if you have other questions.

I wanted to add that the residents do seem fairly active... Based on how many houses are there, I'd bet the majority never take advantage of what's there, but there are enough runners, walkers, hikers, and bikers to give it an active feel. I live very near, but not actually in Westwing. Take a day and check it out. Sounds like it may be good for you.
