Hi all,

The wife and I are relocating to the area. She has a few friends in Gilbert & Mesa. I will be working from home but might have to make an occasional trip to the Intel fab in Chandler or PHX for infrequent travel. So that is the area we have been looking.

We have viewed hundreds of homes on line over the past week. We met with our realtor and saw 8-10 in the Gilbert, Chandler and Mesa area (south of 60).

This is what is seems like to me:

-Gilbert and Chandler seem to be interchangeable as far as amenities and cost of single family homes (>2400sqft) in the $300-370 range.
-Quality schools for our imaginary kids seem to be easy to find.
-Mesa on the South Side of 60 seems to be pretty nice.
-Mesa north of 60 is spotty, unless you go pretty far east.

We found a really spectacular place in Mesa (Superstition Springs) just south of 60. How is that area? Schools seem to be well ranked / reviewed.

Looking for general input to the area as well as any outside the area as well.

Are there locations that are highly recommended to have a look at?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think you'll need to look as far as East Mesa. The Intel fabs are in South Chandler or West Chandler and there's plenty of good housing less than 10 miles from those. I would probably look in South Chandler near the Ocotillo fab, that way it is closer to work and also not a big distance from Sky Harbor. I am partial to the Chandler School District which boundaries bleed a bit into Gilbert on the South side. Another option would be the Ahwatukee area which is closer to Sky Harbor and not too far from the Intel fabs, as long as you don't go too far West into Ahwatukee. I would personally look at those two locations first, maybe even South Tempe before Gilbert and Mesa.

Most anywhere in Chandler would be fine, even the neighborhoods near the Intel plant are family-friendly and safe.

The location has good freeway access into Phoenix too, I-10 and the 101 are nearby.

Most of Chandler is served by the Kyrene school district, perhaps the best one overall.

Most of Chandler is actually served by the Chandler Unified district, which is even better than Kyrene
