So, not including Phoenix since it isn't a suburb, which one is your least favorite? Use any criteria or personal opinion as you please.

Edit: 20 poll options! So many suburbs!

I personally voted for Tolleson. It's small, kind of dumpy, and there's not much around it either given Maryvale and the rest of blighted West Phoenix.

And the point of this "poll" is exactly what? Sorry, not voting.

What's the point of any thread on here? To share information? I don't expect this thread to turn into a heated argument... We can not like other areas of town and remain civil about it. I do expect people to argue somewhat, but not to the point of shutting this thread down.

People who think about relocating here will probably want to see this information as it will be a suburb comparison. Phoenix is a very big metro, and most of us live in these suburbs (though a lot are in Phoenix proper) and I think it will provide a lot of information.

PS: If I did the opposite of this, asking for the most favorite suburb, we already know the results of that. Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and Tempe. It wouldn't be as informative I think.

Most of them. I'm not a suburb type of person. Too many soccer moms, kids, and family friendly things, bland housing, and just all around BLAH.

Someone that lives in Surprise voted for Scottsdale. That's like someone living in Compton saying Malibu is undesirable. This thread is disaster waiting to happen.

As someone from CA, I would not compare Surprise to Compton, nor Scottsdale to Malibu. It's more like Corona to Irivine, respectively

This thread should be interesting

Precisely. Newcomers or potential newcomers are not going to get anything useful out of this poll. A vote in the poll is not "information", it's a mouse click. And, give it time, if people leave comments, the east vs west (and Scottsdale is/is not "snooty") wars will start again.

I wasn't comparing Surprise to Compton nor Scottsdale to Malibu. The disparity between each example are similar enough for an analogy though.

This is tough to answer because most Phoenix suburbs have parts I like and parts I don't like. Parts of Glendale are extremely nice, but then most of the southern part is pretty dumpy. I personally can't stand a good portion of Scottsdale (or at least a lot of the people that live there), but at the same time I don't mind South Scottsdale so much and I wouldn't be giving due credit if I didn't acknowledge the fact that Scottsdale is littered with great restaurants in all parts of town. Maybe Tolleson or El Mirage (if it was listed), but even those towns have a few nicer parts that I don't mind so much.

I would wager that greater than 70% of residents of Surprise could afford to live in many parts of Scottsdale (more like 98%+ if you include apartments). I would wager that less than 1% of residents of Compton could afford to live in Malibu. You gave a very extreme analogy that widened the gap between the two areas significantly greater than exists in reality, that is why it was a poor analogy. Maybe that would be a good example if we were talking Maryvale to PV.
