Hi, my husband & I are moving to NE Mesa. I just called to transfer our Centurylink acct., and the fastest speed they have in the area is 10-12 megs. We have 20+ megs in Scottsdale, and it's fine for the internet work that we do online. I'm concerned that this 10-12 speed won't be fast enough.

Any other recommendations on internet companies where the speed is faster? Or is it just this area that won't go over 10-12 megs? Thx in advance..

Your probably stuck with Cox, Centurylink or Satellite Internet.

Cox has an unfortunate monopoly on this city, and they know it.

I lived in northeast Mesa (Higley/McKellips) and had Cox for internet. It was 50MB down and about 10ish up. It was $67 at the time, but it's gone up to $74 for that speed now.

Call in and tell them you're looking to bundle with Century Link and Direct TV, for their $29.99 internet special.

I was paying $74 for 50 mbps like you. Now I am paying $60 for 100 mbps and locked that in for 2 years.

Thx for your replies! We got Cox for internet only, since CenturyLink didn't have any high speeds in the area. It's faster than our old CenturyLink acct. in Scottsdale, so we're happy!

The broadband here is a travesty. I go into San Diego often and it's even worse there. I would love to see Maricopa County or at least individual towns do municipal broadband. The biggest benefit is no data caps along with gig speeds. It also supplies construction related jobs. I could see a town like Tempe trying this
