Just got back from a business trip to California. Not only was it 70 degrees and sunny at Sky Harbor, but then I heard and saw this news:

Trooper 'ambushed,' shot in Tonopah expected to be OK; suspect shot and killed by passer-by - azfamily.com 3TV | Phoenix Breaking News, Weather, Sport

Way to go!

Great News, JohnP . . .

Sounds like the DPS Trooper is going to be OK . . . THANKFULLY.

Isn't is wonderful when these Goons are "put out of their misery" prior to causing even more harm and/or death . . . especially to a Law Enforcement Officer who is putting his life on the line to protect all of us?

The article did not reference if the criminal that was killed was in the country illegally.

Doesn't really matter does it? The person attacked a police officer...a citizen stepped up to stop the criminal...yay 2nd Amendment rights and the decency of a person stepping into harm's way to protect another person.

Glad the officer made it out alive and good on the civilian for doing such an unselfish/brave thing.

WOO-HOO!

Very impressed by the passer-by's coolness and presence of mind, even using the trooper's radio to call it in.

Go gun–toting citizen go!!!!

Let this be a wake up call to anti-gun folks.

If I came across this scene I would have done the exact same thing!

Hats off to both of these men who stopped to help the Trooper!

Motorist who aided wounded trooper recalls fear, confusion

It's good to also know that Arizona and virtually all states have a "defense of third person" law that allows someone to use deadly force against another who is threatening or injuring a third person.

Quote:
Eugene Volokh, a law professor at UCLA, said such laws are akin to self-defense statutes. The laws have been around for centuries.
