Because it became a slang word. There's a Dick Road (and many, many others) which could be offensive because of an English slang word. Seems that would offend even more. Squaw Valley Ski Resort agrees. Let's not get into changing street names left and right. This is a prime example of the victim mentality and pussification of America. Lets worry about things that actually matter.

So again, would Ni--er Peak Drive be acceptable or is having a problem with that "pussification"? Where do you draw the line? If word is truly disparaging of Native American women, I say change it.

Apples and oranges, but of course that's wrong. Redskin Peak maybe is going too far as that is more akin to your example. Squaw means woman or wife. I don't believe for a second you have a problem with it, I think you are just toeing the Liberal line

It seems to usually be those who are not and are rarely branded with offensive names who see no offense in a name that is derogatory to others.

Squaw:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squaw

In some 19th- and 20th-century texts squaw is used or perceived as derogatory.

If there are enough people in the area who think it is offensive - and history does back that up, why NOT change the name. Why do some people insist on keeping a name that offends a lot of people. There are plenty of other names available that don't offend.

BTW, the poll is skewed and misleading... The mayor is willing to change the name of the street if the majority agree. This pole indicates the opposite.

And I don't identify with any party, so I'm not attacking Liberals, but it's silly to think a word that means woman or wife but as a slang *may* refer to a vagina is akin to "N****r Rd". My example above is a better comparison.

It doesn't refer to a race or ethnicity at all so we can all comment on it since my assumption is we all have genitalia

I'm really not familiar enough with that word to have an opinion one way or another. I'm just curious where the "everything is so damn pussified and PC these days" crowd draws the line.
