Hello,

In Phoenix, what towns have the best mountain views? I loved driving through Scottsdale and Fountain Hills when I visited AZ because of the mountain background.

We are moving out in a few weeks and want to eventually buy a home. I'd love to be in a town that has mountain views, however, Scottsdale and such would most likely not be within our budget (350k and less).

Are there mountain views in Gilbert or Chandler? Not sure if we'd be able to afford Carefree or Anthem, but I'd imagine they have mountains. Also, we'd like to go no further west than Peoria because we will be working in the east valley.

Cross Peoria off your list. You will not be living there if working in the east valley. At least not for long with any bit of sanity. Check Ahwatukee and parts of Mesa.

Ahwatukee, east Mesa, and Fountain Hills would be your best bets. You actually CAN find homes in Fountain Hills in your budget range but you won't get as much for your money as those other two places.

What about Gilbert and Chandler? And what about North Phoenix?

No views in Chanbert. There are no views in N Phoenix worth commuting to the east valley.

Mesa or Apache Junction. I think the best mountains to view in the valley are the superstitions. In my opinion of course.

I'm hesitant with Mesa because I've read and been told there are a lot of sketchy areas, however, it's a cheaper place to live. I've been told Gilbert is a nice small town and Chandler is huge, but has some really nice areas. It's Gilbert and Chandler flat then? Would I at least be 20 minutes or so from an area where I could see mountains in the distance in Gilbert or Chandler? I don't know what my obsession is. I just love the look of them in the distance.

In West Chandler there can be views of South Mountain, in S Gilbert/SE Chandler there can be views of the Santan Mountain but that's about it.

We live in the northwest part of phoenix, surrounded by GREAT mountain views all around us, so dont believe what others here have said...It will be a tough ride from Peoria to work, especially if you work conventional hours, and work in some of the eastern parts of the valley..

Ahwatukee is probably your best bet. As mentioned, the south parts of Gilbert have a view of San Tan Mtn, which I’m looking at right now from my patio.

Chandler and Gilbert are really not very different. As with much of US suburbia, you would not know you were leaving one and entering the other unless there was a sign.
