The old part of Litchfield Park, or what locals may call "inside the walls", has lovely older neighborhoods. It's different from the parts with newer homes that may have a Litchfield Park address but only some of which are actually in the city itself. It's a nice area. Since you seem to be looking at the outskirts, it's an area that should stay on your list.

The entire area is quite nice. Nicer homes...you should also look in Palm Valley where there are also many very nice subdivisions.

agree! we also looked in the Palm valley area....didnt find any homes we were overly impressed with but its a super nice area! FYI check HOA fees when hunting, we did see 2 homes in the area that weren't to bad and had some things on our want list but HOA fees were $127 a month and I'm not sure why because the neighborhood looked identical to other neighborhoods that had $40 fees.

I was fortunate enough to grow up in Litchfield Park and move back here with my own kids a few years ago. It’s a great place to raise kids, to be a kid. Though the population is a little older, younger families have been moving in. Within the Park, shaded sidewalks are a great way to bike or walk anywhere. We are south east of Luke and the jets are sometimes noticeable but rarely a disturbance. I’m not aware of any problems with crime here though I did have my BMX bike stolen from our garage when I was a kid, really liked that bike.

Lichfield Park is great - not everything with a Litchfield Park address is in LP

You can find the city boundary map here

http://www.litchfield-park.org/DocumentView.asp?DID=210

Anything outside of that is not within the city and your are not a resident of Litchfield Park.

The older area within the walls is fantastic - different housing stock, good parks, library, rec center, some restaurants and the wigwam resort.

I really like it.

Frequent events as well.

The newer builds within Litchfield Park, but outside the walls are very well done.

If you are in LP, jet noise isn't going to be a huge concern for most with the flight plans

It is also about 20-25 minutes to downtown in non-rush conditions. This increases greatly during rush

If you are in unincorporated Maricopa County with an LP address, each neighborhood will be different as it covers a large area.

I live in one of these and it's fine.

My HOA is more expensive, but includes sanitation, fire, etc.

By and large the SW Valley is safe

Also, definitely will check the flight path for that area. I definitely don't want to deal with loud jets flying over my house all day.

And, by the way, I noticed a cement company and large "salt mining" looking area to the east. Is that a concern? Any pollution coming from that area?

I live in an area (not LP) that requires the same county services as areas of LP that aren't in LP proper. We get the sheriff instead of a police force (not a bad thing) and we pay about $500/year to Rural Metro for fire/emergency services. The Rural Metro is optional but they bill you for their services if you need their assistance and aren't a member. If you need emergency services, they're the ones that will probably be showing up.

I live near Luke but not in the worst of the flight pattern. I don't think it's bad at all but there are people in my area that vehemently disagree with me. I would agree that if you're in the flight path nearest the base (i.e. where they take off), it is ridiculously loud. If you decide to buy in the area, spend some time out there during the day to experience what it's like at the prospective home. They don't fly heavily every day, so it might take a few days to get a feel for it.

Hi all,

I am looking at newer builds called Allen ranches. On the map it is not showing in the LP area but the address is LP based. I am wondering if anyone know this area which is little west to 303. Also is there a Luke Airforce base sound be an issue in this area? TIA
