Have your rates for kilowatt hours increased, or charges, surcharges, taxes, etc., on your electric bill in the last couple of years?

Thanks very much.

I think it’ll depend on if you’re with aps or srp. I’m sure they’ve increased rates as demand has increased but each company does this differently.

You got that right! San Diego now has the highest rates in the nation.

SDG&E's rate increases starting in 2013 are expected to outpace inflation by almost 70% by 2030 in a CA Public Utilities Commission chart.

Mine have come down quite a bit since I had my new, efficient, heat pump installed.

If your HVAC is more than 10 years old, it's time for an upgrade.

Yeah. This winter I'll put in another mini-split so we can cool the downstairs and master bedroom separately. With all the limitations of SEER in our hot desert climate they are still the most efficient solution around. Now SEER 22 for very reasonable prices. Plus you lose a lot less than central AC in the hot attic.

I pay the same every month and that amount hasn't gone up in at least 5 years. I do the budget for my condo association, and I've budgeted the same amount for electric longer than that. We have APS.

I am on SRP's budget billing. For the past 2 or 3 years, we have had a bill around $279/month. I just received my new statement for the bill due on 9/21, and it's gone down drastically, to $218. That's roughly a 22% decrease.

Has this happened to anyone else? How is that even possible?

I am on the same plan with SRP. mine went down too. I've been on it for years. They check your account at regular intervals, if your credit balance is too large, they lower your payment. The idea is to bring it close to even by around the end of the calendar year. In the old days, they used to just let you use up your credit balance in a lump sum, so I'd have a month with no payment at the end. I don't think they do that now, but if you call them, they'll be happy to explain the details. They are also off high summer rates now, so that wil factor into your actual charges per month.

Same with me. One of the reasons my rates decreased was the fact that my house is energy efficient, despite being old. Installing fiberglass doors and double pane windows helped immensely, as well as the new A/C I purchased a few years ago (a Trane). Also, keeping the A/C at a steady temperature of 80 degrees reduces energy consumption. I don't really need it colder than that.
