You guys are insane…just get a multimeter and if after a charge it’s falling below 12v then replace it.

You’re all replacing perfectly fine batteries.
Never got less than 4-5 years out of AGMs

Glad I have an older, simpler car I suppose

Username checks out!

I beg your pardon but I certainly did not replace a "perfectly fine" battery. Mine lasted 2 yrs in the AZ heat, which is the topic of this thread. Where do you live, Psycho? I returned it to Autozone, who tested it and confirmed it was bad, then gave me a free replacement under the 3 year warranty.

I find this useful information. I'm relocating to Southern Arizona. 2 to 3yrs on a battery ain't much, but it makes sense with the extreme heat.

Last time I had Batteries Plus do mine, and although they ultimately got it in, it was a struggle for them.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread I bought a new car in 2/19 and the battery started to go bad 5/21. I called AAA and they came by and tested the battery. I was told I needed to replace it. Cost $170.

I find AZ particularly the summer months not a good place to suddenly find your car won't start. I've already got 50k miles on it and make sure it's properly maintained.

As an old fart, I think about that, also, and for me it falls into the better safe than sorry mode of thinking.

What type of battery is best for hot weather?

True or Hype? What's best in Arizona?

TPPL AGM batteries, such as ODYSSEY® Extreme Series™ batteries, are designed specifically for high temperatures. They can reach up to 176°F (80°C) and not lose internal water, as the battery remains sealed during its operation.Apr 12, 2022
