As a 55+ woman on her own, trust me...I would rather be going from house to car in that heat than TRYING to go to my car in 2 feet of relentless snow like we get up here in the winter! My area up here in MASS gets 4 months of rainy muggy summers, and blizzard winters. IT SUCKS.

Got my electric bill today almost $100 more than last year even though I used less on peak and demand then last year. I shifted more to off peak hit me with adjuster fee almost double. Reading about that fee says calculated by the amount of power you use against some number they came up with when you go over the KWH amount they add more to this adjuster.

Not sure if you got your August bill yet it's going to be more with all this extreme heat.

Yeah, mine is apparently increasing from $286 last year to a projected $365 (billing period hasn't ended yet).

They told me to shift my usage off peak which we did then they hit me with $50 for an adjuster fee. When I look up the reason something about, I used more than my neighbors. Going to call them tomorrow likely not get anywhere with it. Someone on another forum said going to go up 22% end of the year.

I'm seriously thinking of installing my own solar system. Yes, I mean DIY solar not using a contractor, but it will be permitted. I have been tinkering with it in a shed I have a 3000 watt off grid system running a mini split in a shed 24/7. Prices on solar kits have come way down I can install a 11.4KW grid tie for about $10k.
