I am moving to Tempe next week and wanted to know of any relatively cheap furniture store in the nearby area. I keep hearing Mesa has a few stores that are either going out of business or are extremely cheap. If anybody knows of such stores or any other nearby I would appreciate it.

if your in Tempe, then go to IKEA. If I were building a new house, I wouldn't furnish it with anything from IKEA, but if this is a 'temporary' house, then by all means go for it. They have CHEAP stuff.

As the saying goes...you get what you pay for though.

not necessarily. If you don't overload their furniture via the specs, you won't have issues. Same goes with expensive furniture. The price doesn't always represent the quality.

One of my favorite places for "finds" is IRCA. They have two stores/warehouses which get hotel furniture when the hotels remodel and no longer want them. Most of their stuff is super sturdy and CHEAP! I have seen huge armoires there for as low as $39!! (There were a couple as high as $349, but we are talking gigantic wood pieces from the Ritz Carlton that would cost a couple of thousand from some other place.) Heavy, glass top dining tables w/6 commercial grade, sturdy chairs is under $300, etc. The nearest one to you is in Mesa, at 1360 W. Southern Ave., 480-615-7200. Their URL is IRCA Hotel Services

Look for re-sale/estate sales stores in the valley. They have some great bargains on good furniture and accessories.

Does this place deliver, as I have a small Honda. Or do you guys know if most of the places deliver? Thanks.

I'm actually just renting an apartment, although, I intend on staying awhile. Don't need anything over-the-top though.

If you're a renter and staying for a short while, have you considered a RAC rent a center store that rents furniture and then you don't have to mess with arranging moving or storage? Just a suggestion.

Thanks, this looks great. I am looking to buy as I don't want to have to worry about damaging something and I would prefer something new.
