I know this thread is a few years old, but my husband is also being transferred to Luke. Any information would be extremely helpful. Does any live in the Chandler/Gilbert area? If so how is the commute? Thanks in advance for you time!!!!

Chandler/Gilbert is the wrong place to be looking if you (your husband) need to be near Luke AFB. Consider Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Surprise, maybe parts of Peoria or Glendale.

That would quite possibly be one of the worst commutes you could have out of the entire Phoenix Metro area. Unless you're okay with spending 2.5+ hours in your car every day, I'd pick somewhere else to live. Plenty of really nice communities in the west valley that would keep your commute at 20 minutes or less.

That neighborhood off 107th and Northern is a no no. It's by a landfill, a cement factory, a salt mine, in a bankrupt city, and in a river bed/flood plain. That neighborhood shouldn't have been built.

I'd recommend South Surprise (around Cactus/Bullard) or Goodyear. Definitely not the East Valley either.
