We are relocating to Peoria area in June 09 - I know - crazy. Husband is a Physical Therapist and I stay at home with 2 young children. Relocating for a different life - more money (sad but true) and the chance to own a home. We are moving from a large University town in the mid-west and know this will be a HUGE transition. I have been so impressed with all feedback and comments on here and hope to start some more recent ones with this post to sort of give me a "newer" perspective. I am super internet hound and have found a lot of info. We have a grandmother in Sun City area so we have been there all 4 seasons and know it's hot. We figure our almost 6 months of winter this year and -30 degree's helped our decision to move.

What I would like to know...is there a decent art scene as well as some earthy crunchy folks? I love that about our current town...oh and farmer's markets...oh how I will miss those.

We have not subscribed to a faith/church and am wondering where do we meet other 30 something couples with kids in the area?

Tennis scene - a MUST for the hubby. A constant source of tension

We REALLY want to buy a home but will NOT spend a lot just because that is the trap we want to avoid - so let's say $130 max for a nice home, in a safe area...is it too much to ask in a sort of master planned community with parks, paths, schools, community feel?? With the current market is this possible?

We will have to rent at first - any ideas of great apartments, toddler friendly with a pool etc....month-month or 3 mos and safe?

Well thank you in advance.

Smile plenty of warmth

You'll be received with open arms by most here. I would look at the Surprise area with the big tennis center they have plus the foreclosure/short sale homes are being snatched up. If you look enough in Surprise, AZ you will find a nice home for that 130K price range!
