I think sh was being cheeky when this person labeled it a May Monsoon, it sounded cute to me too SH, LOL! But you know, when you post something on city-data, it usually inspires conversation and factual information like the info AZnative began to give...and it fed into monsoon facts, LOL, not to take away from your cheeky May Monsoon.

No biggie....we are actually getting a t-storm here right now, lightning and thunder, but no rain hitting the ground. Im on another board and so far at least two new fires down near Sierra Vista....not confirmed from lightning yet, but thats my guess.

Oh wow!!! I am currently visiting my parents house near the Estrella Mountains (watching the East semis on their marvelous TV, LOL) and it is very cloudy down here too. It does remind me of some of the monsoon season minus the extreme weather like high winds and micro bursts...and who can forget those lovely haboobs (dust storms)?!!!?

Well, as it starts to wind down here, all and all, it really did turn out to be a very "monsoon like" day down here....hot and sticky in the morning, clouded up but still managed to hit 104 in the afternoon, the storms came in at about 4 PM and blew threw in a couple hours. We got a wind gust of 28 MPH at my house and the current temp on my patio is 82! NICE! Just a few sprinkles hit the ground here...but lots of cloud to cloud and a few cloud to ground lightning.

Still a little breezy, but the thunder and lightning is off towards Gila Bend now. Will probably start to warm back up quickly now...bummer!

I will say nature is pretty amazing....it knows 11 days in a row of 100+ in May is a little unusual and probably not right....so what does it do....brings in a cooling thunderstorm!

Just looked out my window to the west and am seeing what I believe to be a new fire - probably around Stanfield or little further west....probably lightning related...

There is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning out for south central Maricopa county. Looks like some dust is possible on SW side.

We're having a mild dust storm in Estrella. Unfortunately, no cooling.
