Substitute Teaching in Central and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale: home, unemployed)

Anyone know of any tips, tricks, or traps to Substitute Teaching in the Valley. I have a lot of experience, but I have not subbed in The Valley for 10 years. Thanks.

expect lower pay

if you are looking for a long term sub job, it's best to network with the teachers in the districts ..... they have a lot of say in selecting their long term subs

that doesn't make much sense

most people I know down here do not have a lot of teaching experience, are not looking for work as a substitute teacher nor have they previously worked as a substitute teacher over a decade ago

Consider the source. That poster moved here to take a job, never really liked it, got laid off along with hundreds of others, is still unemployed, and can't wait to leave.

Adolpho- I'd check with some of the larger school districts and see what they tell you.

phoenix union HS pays $90 for a standard day

I can't find much more online, but from word of mouth I think you could realistically expect between $75 and $95 per day pending what you do and where you do it

Looks like a lot of the districts have places to apply on their webpages

For HS you can look at Phoenix Union, Glendale, Peoria, Aqua Fria for starters

For Elementary you can look at Peoria, Glendale, Alhambra, Avondale, Litchfield for starters
