I'm a disabled NY native, and every time I tried to use ANY government services, it felt not only like they were incompetent, but biased against me. Not because I'm disabled, but because I'm a NY native. Social security screwed me up so bad, 10 years later I'm still fixing the mess. Social Security almost made me homeless. They also screwed up my Medicare, which screwed up my workers comp claim. My lawyer asked me what Medicare had to do with worker's comp. I had no idea, but once I got back to NY, that problem got resolved right away.

I worked as a tax preparer for six seasons, and applied for a job at the IRS in Phoenix. I'm very qualified, did the test, then was waiting for the official interview. One of the two interviewees came into the waiting area and asked where everyone was from. When I said NY, I got this reaction from her akin to what black people describe when they know someone is being biased toward them. I knew right there before I entered the interview room I lost the job. And in the interview, she was very nasty. Of course, I didn't get the job.

Hell, I couldn't even register to vote, even though I was a resident by then.

Like I said, I hated AZ and AZ hated me.
Yes AZ is atrocious in the social services department. It’s a fend for yourself state until that doesn’t work anymore and they realize one can only be as strong as their weakest link. I think AZ is starting to slowly realize this now that there is an epidemic of homelessness and it’s now becoming a public health concern. Meanwhile tax dollars are being thrown at a problem that could of been alleviated from the get-go in much more economically friendly manner.

So? City-Data has blurbs at the end of all posts suggesting folks reply. I don't see why some posters get so upset when an old post is revived. Readers are simply doing what C-D suggested.
