I think we need to look at some rules regarding the photo competitions (minus the normal guidelines). There are several brand-spankin-new members (ie 3 posts and under) who joined this site just to throw in their professional images in the competition. Should we make a rule regarding how many posts a user must have before joining a competition? IDK, maybe like 100 posts or so before they can be eligible for entering the competition? If not, youre just gonna have a million pro photographers Googling "photo contest" and stumble upon this site and enter the competition, w/o prior contribution to this site. Not quite what Id call fair.... I mean, Im all for seeing great photographs and all, but I think some guidelines need to be laid down. Anyone agree?

I don't see the problem with it since it's open to everyone and really just for fun to get us out and shooting.

Steve-o,

With the prize money at stake for this contest I can understand your concern. With an all expense paid, two week trip to the Bahamas at stake I am sure " a million pro photographers" are gonna line up to submit their award winning shots.
All kidding aside, as a brand new member here, you could be talking about me (except my pictures suck, that is). I joined on the 28th of April, made one post about moving to Florida, one post about golfing and then stumbled here. I did not understand the rules and have since asked to have all (both) my entries deleted. I am tricky. I am setting you up for the next contest, where I win the all expense paid trip to Australia.

Then, as a winner (with a cash prize) would you then be called a "pro"? Just like an Olympic athlete, I want to keep my amateur status in tact.

I'm assuming, Steve-O, that your comments are directed at me, considering I entered the contest and have under 3 posts (well, 3 including this one). I joined this site because I'm an avid follower of urban development and architecture who enjoys discussing cities. In fact, I'm a longtime moderator at Skyscrapercity and Skyscraperpage. Photography is just a pastime I enjoy, so when I saw there was a contest here, I figured I'd enter. I don't appreciate the imputation that I Googled "photo contest" and signed up just to win some contest.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
