Well, I would say I am protective of balanced descriptions of ALL of Pittsburgh's neighborhoods. There is, of course, nothing wrong with people having and expressing their personal preferences among the many neighborhoods, but I think sometimes people bash certain neighborhoods they don't personally like without really giving due credit to some of the positive aspects of those neighborhoods. That can happen with Shadyside, but it can (and does) happen with virtually every other neighborhood over time.

Ultimately, as I see it our primary purpose here is to help give people enough information to find a good fit for themselves. That requires being able to somewhat put aside our own personal preferences and loyalties and present as complete a picture of the available options as possible.

You're free to live wherever you like, obviously. But I fail to understand why someone else's "protective"ness towards a place would influence your decision to live somewhere.

You can live in a tree for all I care, but at least my opinions of places are at least based on my actually living in those places.

I just don't like hyper-defensive people. Someone agreed with me and said they weren't into shadyside and i thought the response to that post was defensive and rude. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's cool to love where you live! It's also cool to respect people's opinion of that place even if it doesn't match yours, or sounds ludicrous to you.

BUT most of the people on this board seem cool and have been very helpful.
