Thumbs down SAFE & AFFORDABLE RENT NEEDED-Carnegie/Bridgeville Area

My son is looking in the Carnegie/Bridgeville area to work in Pittsburgh.

He just graduated from college and is starting his first job (low pay) as a data-base employee in Squirrel Hill.

He needs a townhouse/garage type of place while he pays his school loans off and has a car payment. Coincidentally, we're now moving to Alabama and he will be on his own...something new empty nesters worry about. Any leads on a SAFE Community?

Is there a reason for choosing this area? I like the Bridgeville area, but no way would I live there and work in Squirrel Hill, the commute would be torture.
