How many 'scraping the windshield of ice' days in Pittsburgh?

Roughly...? Would you say per year?

My guess would be around 10 per year.

Around 10 - 15 I guess. It's weird that when people think of ice storms, they think of a "wintery mix" or sleet and snow coming down. Here in Pittsburgh, our ice storms mean that every surface known to man will instantly become an ice rink.

I use a magnetic windshield cover that I put on my car at night . It's one of the best $10 investments you'll ever make as it saves so much time and effort!

These numbers aren't too bad. When I grew up in Michigan, it felt like all winter long, you almost always had to scrape the ice off the windshield before you could get going...

Granted, it's more in my memory...not sure the reality there.

Well yeah, there's a lot of days you have to scrape off some ice because it's quite cold outside. But there are some times where we had an ice storm and everything is a perfect sheet of ice. It looks quite cool actually.

I think 10 is way too low. I'd guess closer to 30. You also have to count days when there's been a heavy enough frost overnight that you need to scrape. It doesn't require percipitation to require scraping.

Actual ice, not that many, and certainly less than I remember in Detroit growing up. Around 10 sounds right (this is based on memory also, since we have had a garage for a while).

I agree about the heavy frost, however--it adds more scraping days.

True. When there's a heavy frost, I don't break out the scraper, I just put the defroster on and wait a couple minutes. If you're including those days, though, it would be slightly more. Maybe add 5 or 10 days.
