Agreed, he deserved to be thrown out for being a drunken douche. However, being hit in the face with a nightsick and tazered is like going from 0 - 100 in an instant.

From what I can tell, the guy was trying to high five a fan, and the security detail from PNC got in his way and stopped him. This upset him, and he hip checked the guy. Big mistake!

I think the officers were just dumbfounded that a guy with thousands of volts coursing through his veins wasn't on the ground. After he hip checked the guy, they immediately tased him, which means they felt he was getting violent and wanted to cuff him (correct response). When he doesn't go down, they have three options: Pull their guns, tackle him, use their night sticks.

Guns is dangerous considering the volume of people, leaving the physical force or their night sticks. Given how beastly he looked shrugging off the taser ... I'm not sure I would have wanted to try and tackle him either, what if he went for your gun?

Being a cop is a tough job, and while the video does look bad, the guy in question did himself no favors, and once they had him on the ground and in control, they were no longer attacking him. Thus I don't find fault with the situation, maybe use it as a training video to discuss and implement a better way to handle that situation?

well I think we can all be pretty sure that if the officer wasn't protected by the law, the drunk guy would have beat the CRAP out of him. dude's a tank.

Then you've never seen it. This is a clear-cut case where the use of force was plainly justified. The only remotely questionable aspect about it was the whack to the head. And when you've got a human tree stump who's not going down even after getting a 25,000-volt massage, there aren't many options left. I'm sure not gonna sob for the guy. Maybe they need to check the battery in that taser or something.

What I want to know are who are the idiots in the stands cheering on this mook.

The legs are designated green, the torso orange, and the head is red simply because you could cave in a person's skull.

There's a difference between timid and electrocution coupled with a stick of wood to the face.
Those foam filled night sticks couldn't cave in anyone's skull.

Think before you act.

And yes, hard as it may be to believe, I have been roughed up by police a few times in my youth.

Lesson....don't aggravate people with high stress responsibilities.

They don't always make it home to their families.

Most of the officers still use the original sticks issued for free to them by the bureau at the time of hiring, which look like the ones in the video being used.

They are NOT foam filled. They are SOLID hickory wood.

Some officers choose to upgrade to the polycarbonate stick (solid/unbreakable) plastic or the expandable ASP baton (aluminum) but not many as those have to be bought with their uniform allowance.

I should know, I sold them for many years at my uniform shop!

Oh come on now this was hilarious! Especially when he growled at the cop when they tried to taze him. Don't be such a grumpy old geezer.

I have to say you're way, way off. beating someone over the head with a stick for being drunk is excessive force. could it have been worse? yeah, they could have beaten him half to death. sure, the taser didn't bring him to the ground but I didn't seem him doing jumping jacks. he gets hit with the taser and he looks bewildered. he did not assault an officer. if they didn't go for the head, it might not only look but be better. I'm sure these cops knew better. this was a clear cut case of the excessive use of force, just not the worst example of it. whose to say these cops don't beat him half to death if there weren't so many eyes on him?

Except that's not what he was clubbed for. If you have to minimize the facts, you probably don't have a case.

Getting really drunk at a baseball game and being an a--hole when you are 41 is pretty pathetic.

What a complete loser.

I hope the cops pushed him down a flight of steps when they got back to the station.
