I don't care to spend $25 a plate for pasta, but is there any place that is more moderate in price for homemade pasta?

There's going to be a place on Forbes in Squirrel Hill, Lilly's Gourmet Pasta (or something like that). The owner told us that he's going to be making the pasta and sauce from scratch, and the place doesn't seem like it's going to be very pricy. It should be opening fairly soon from the looks of things.

Edit: It's a franchise. The Pittsburgh location's menu isn't up yet, but the prices and menus for the other locations (all in Massachusetts and other New England states) are online. Looks to be around $10 a plate for dinner: http://www.lillysgourmetpasta.com/Li...-Menu-0608.pdf

Interesting. Years ago Olive Garden made homemade pasta and it was amazingly good. Of course that was in the first restaurant in Orlando on International Drive. I loved it.

I have no problem with a chain making homemade pasta. Pasta isn't some super hard thing to make and homemade is great. I mean give me some garlic and butter on some homemade pasta and I am happy, so a chain works. Thanks for the post, I will keep an eye on it.

Piccolo Forno in Lawrenceville makes its own pasta. I think the pasta dishes are around $15, give or take.

I went there for pizza once and it was pretty good, but never had the pasta. I have been craving a bit of homemade pasta and don't like to cook pasta at home this time of year. There is also Pizzutti which I never tried.

Thanks for the tip Brian.

Piccolo Forno makes their own pasta. I love their lasagne.

Also, Lidia's has a pasta tasting: all you can eat of three different homemade pastas that change daily. It's $14 at lunch and $18 at dinner. If you go for brunch ($24) you can choose the pasta tasting as your entree.

Legends (http://www.legendsnorthshore.com/ - broken link) on the North Side is a very cool place that makes both homemade pasta and sauce. I consider it to be pretty good.

Another suggestion -- Penn Mac in the Strip makes some excellent fresh pastas. I also saw on one of the other threads that you mentioned that your tomato crop was very good this year. Use your tomatos to make a "quick sauce." It's a little bit of work, but very much worth it. And if you really want to get involved, pick up a pasta machine for $50 and make your own noodles (this is hard work and I only do it once in a while).

I have two pasta machines. It is too hot to cook and feel like eating pasta out sometime soon.

Penn Mac has a place to eat, or take out fresh pasta that you cook at home?
