Oh, and you are off by a factor of 10+ on that attendance.

  • Replace any Brutalism architecture
The kids can learn to cross the street, it's an urban campus why try to turn it into something it's not?

I know that Brutalism is out of fashion but Hillman and Posvar are pretty nice examples of it and I'd hate for us to tear down more modern architecture before it's appreciated.

My children will go to a Big 10 school (other than Michigan) or they will be cut out of the family. But, if I'm ever homeless, maybe I'll head to Oakland, deficate in my pants, and sleep on the sidewalk outside the Pitt dorms like the rest of the bums do. Pitt = less classy version of Temple.
Pre-determining your child's future...great parent!

I think Hillman looks great..but Posvar is pretty ugly..no need to tear it down though. And I definitely agree to relish in the campus' urbanity

That's what I'd do if my kids ever went to a Big 10 school lol.

I saw that the other day from the bus. Now, that's the kind of architecture I think is worth keeping. It was a beautiful pre-war apartment building.

I find that easy to ignore when I think of Pitt. Except for the Library and Common Facilities, it wasn't there when I was in school.

You just don't get it. You should judge a college based on whether it runs a gigantic, dirty athletic program or not.

As far as the campus goes, I don't know. I suppose it's because I've always been around more traditional (rural?) campuses with greens, brick-paved paths, squirrels, clock towers, etc. I'm sure it just comes with the benefits of being in a city, but I have a hard time with the concrete and dirt. I've always thought Oakland is one of the uglier parts of the city. It's still a good school, though.

Even though I am not a huge fan, I would also be against actually tearing down the Brutalist buildings. And I very much agree that Pitt should remain an urban school, not try to carve itself out a separate campus.

I'm the opposite, i think its one of the more impressive buildings on campus.

Ditto.

Now that we've discussed architecture, what about the academics?
