Can anyone give me a breakdown of realistic commute times in/out of downtown? Technology Drive to be exact. Looking to relocate to a nice, family neighborhood with good schools and shopping. Mt. Lebanon is at the top of the list but wondering if we should look elsewhere. Commute times are really important!

If anyone can list some good places to live with commute times - I would be thankful!

Thanks in advance :-)

I think it would depend on where you live in Mt. Lebanon.

Well, just in general - just looking for a basic list like:

West Mifflin - X mins
Butler - X Mins
Fox Chapel - X mins
Dormont
Regent Square
Cranberry

Probably looking to spend 250K on a house. Just want a nice neighborhood, schools, backyard, bigger house, and a mall

I don't think "where" in Mt Lebo makes a difference. If you follow everyone else through the Fort Pitt Tunnel and on to Banksville Road, based on our experience in the past, at least a good 45 minutes. When we have dinner reservations in that area, I cross the Smithfield Street Bridge, turn left on Carson, amd sneek up to the Liberty Tunnel, which goes much faster from that point. You have missed all the people who can't merge and are too worried about letting everyone else go before them.

When I worked in the South Hills, I always said, if I lived in Mt Lebo, Upper St Clair, or Bethel Park, and worked downtown, no questions asked, I'd be on the light rail every day

You'll never avoid Pittsburghers who can't merge.

Kennedy / Crafton / Ingram - ten minutes, except during rush hour.

Just as a ballpark, you'll be doing about 45 minutes to downtown during rush hours with all of those places by car. Dormont does have the option of taking the T though which is great.

I live 7 miles away from my downtown destination and it takes about 40 minutes in rush hour.

Technology Drive is not really downtown, so the T would not be an option without bus transfer.

That's not true for Route 28. Aspinwall is 10 minutes. Fox Chapel and Shaler are well under 30 minutes. During rush hour. Route 28 is only getting better with the construction.

VTtoPA -- Instead of asking people to make a list, ask each person to share where they live and the commute times into town from their houses.

I'm in Hampton. 10 minutes at night or weekends. 25 minutes during rush hour. 45+ minutes during a major accident, ice storm, blizzard, etc.

I prefer living in the northern suburbs. The side roads aren't as congested. Ross Park Mall has better stores than the other malls.

He could take the "T" and then bike up Second Avenue.
