Wingarts - where in South Side? I have this on my list of places to try.
Next to the Carson St Deli (which is a pretty awesome NY style deli with a great build your own 6 pack selection & free tastings on wednesdays to boot)

Nice. I'll have to check that out.

There are a lot of places I have left to try in my own South Side neighborhood I'm slowly learning. I'm making my rounds though...

My partner and I are fond of the chicken tenders at Jack's. We're considering going there for Valentine's Day as one of our options.

Their 3 chickens for $1 is the real bargain (hard boiled eggs)

I've been to Fatheads (first day here), Emilianos (I live a half block away), Ruggers (My rugby team owns the bar...I just rebuilt the staircase into the basement last week), Lins (hungover dinner), and Local just for drinks so far (ran into Hines, Harrison, and Peterson there).

I've heard 17th street is awesome.

As I recall Winghart's uses a fairly basic meat mix, maybe only chuck in fact, without some of the fancier cuts (brisket, short rib, ribeye, etc.) other places use. His theory apparently is that the key to burger taste is how it is ground and cooked, not the mix. So that difference in approach may be what people are picking up on when comparing their plain burgers to other gourmet burgers.

Personally, I don't really have an opinion on that as an inherent issue, because I think his burgers work well with the toppings they offer, which is what I get there. But the more good burger places the better, as far as I am concerned.

I believe it is the south part of 7.2, or maybe that and 7.1 combined, on this map:

The trip my friend and I made to the Waterworks was specifically for Burgatory but then we also lingered to do some shopping at Barnes & Noble---retail clustering at its finest!
