Rats. My explanation was far more entertaining.

Then knock door to door and ask your neighbors. It's unlikely anyone on this forum lives on those particular roads.

Doesn't matter where as house is located. The various ways to reduce noise are the same everywhere.

What, you mean a berm of Primanti's Sandwiches and O Fries isn't the preferred local method of sound remediation?

Yes, but you have to also use parking chairs and wrap the sandwiches (and the chairs) in terrible towels.

Ok, I have to step in, since both the op and the regulars are apparently working as hard as they can at turning this thread into a flaming wreck.
Some off topic is ok. Some. Switching the topic completely is not, but when someone gives you a suggestion you haven't considered (or mentioned), it is not ok to yell at them for being "off topic". It only provokes, which leads to my other point: the rest of you, stop with the mockery and don't post unless you can actually contribute and help.
Finally, please leave moderating to the mods.
Yac.

We just get used to it. I grew up in rural Cranberry, and as I grew so did Cranberry and it wasn't rural anymore. And it got louder. We carpeted, and put up drapes and finally my Dad made a nice gameroom/tv room in the basement. It was quiet and cool down there.... but most of all, we sort of grew with it, and the noise didn't bother us.

By the way -- beyond heavy drapes -- lots of thick scatter rugs or plush carpets also help dampen noise from outside.
