I think company drivers are usually better than most. Overall driving around here isn't bad, but that 1 out of 40 drivers makes people think it is bad. Most often it is the idiot trying to rush through traffic and getting nowhere. Cutting people off to get ahead one space and saving 3 or so seconds on their commute. Just being aggressive. On my bike I don't encounter too many idiots, but 1 out of 100 is more than enough. I have no protection and have to be more than careful. When riding my bike it is like I am driving for myself and everyone else, planning for the worst at all times.

You have to. When in a car, sure we look out for bikers, but ultimately you gotta CYA.

I witnessed a guy on a motorcycle this morning cut through traffic, run a red light and nearly got creamed by a bus this morning, coming out of the 10th street tunnels... holy crap dude.

I'm just glad that where I got to be isn't nearly so important that I gotta risk my life getting there.

I moved here for school from the Philadelphia area, and oddly enough, I'm beginning to like Pittsburgh drivers because of how much slower the pace is on the road. Every once in a while I get a guy that's tailing me, but inside the city limits, I really enjoy the fact that I can drive slow at night and just cruise around the city at a relaxed pace and enjoy the scenery.

I was driving home on the Parkway last night (from the Homestead/Squirrel Hill exit to the Banksville exit) and at least half of the drivers I passed were inexplicably driving at 40-45 mph. It was long past rush hour, and the way was clear, even near the tunnel. If they're afraid to drive on the highway, maybe they should find another way.

I agree 100 percent.

I was coming home the opposite direction last night. Last night, when it was bright, sunny, warm, dry road conditions. I came around the bend where you see the first sign noting the exit for Squirrel Hill, and everyone is slamming on their brakes. 6:55pm. Unbelievable.

It does seem that Pittsburghers are almost afraid to get going too fast on the highway, even 60, 65 seems rare. Honestly, I think everyone is so engrained to be sitting in stop and go traffic that they just prepare for it at all times.

Trust me, I am NOT making excuses for the drivers around here, I go FAST and get around all the slow people, but it's just a theory!

But remember, look twice and save a life.

I've emailed a number of local motorcycle organizations and have sent multiple letters to the editor and asked when motoryclists are going to start preaching to their own instead of shoving all that nonsense down the automobile drivers throats.

My wife and I witnessed three bikers riding down the double yellow line on the Homestead Grays bridge recently. We also witnessed a car swerve at them at the last minute and nearly hit them. Disappointingly, the car missed.

Eastbound 376, 7:45am this morning: Two cars, side by side going into and coming out of the tunnel, one in each lane, going 50mph.

With nothing but open space in front of them.

Until the Rt. 30 offramp expanded into 3 lanes.

End rant.
