Statements like that tell me that you haven't traveled enough.

No kidding. I have seen in Florida backups that were close to an hour because there was a accident on the other side of the highway because people all had to look instead of just drive. That happens about everywhere, except around the NYC area.

I'll admit, I've learned a lot from folks like yourself. But I am atimate in my belief that there are things you experience in traffic that many of you agree you've never seen anywhere else.
Scott,

With all due respect, you have a bug about Pgh drivers. You state that good driving starts North of Rte 80, pretty sure you're an Erie boy. I drive to Lake Chautauqua via the 79, 80, and 86 routes on a regular basis. Coming home a few weeks ago I did a survey, at all the exits along 80, not one, and I mean not one, car merging used a turn signal, and I was forced to move over to avoid an accident.

Bad driving is everywhere. I think it has to do with a lack of high school driver's ed and a sense of entitlement.

I drive on an eight lane divided highway called 580 out here. If there is an accident or a cop stopping someone with flashers going in the eastbound lanes, it will stop the eastbound lanes dead. Which will stop the westbound lanes dead. In a few minutes people start moving, but very very very slowly.... backing up traffic for a mile. All the time.

We also have the people that don't believe they will fit through the tunnels from day to day.

And finally -- out here, I am an aggressive driver. And when I go back east -- YOU GUYS SCARE ME. I won't rent less than a 6 cyl. because I need the pick up and speed. The week I had a compact 4 cyl. I was terrifed I was going to be road pizza.

What I drive out here is a 4 cyl. manual shift Toyota Matrix...

Incorrect assumption. I mentioned some of the major cities all over North America that I've driven, particullarly Boston and NYC. I've been driving to and in NYC for a good part of ten years and I don't see these back ups, and I've been on I-95, New Jersey Turnpike, Van Wyck expressway, etc.
