Thanks for your response,

Yes, I was 13 YO when my family moved to Aspinwall from Hazelwood. It took me a while to adjust as my Aspinwall age group was much more sophisticated than I was familiar with. The thing that struck me immediately was how EVERYBODY (even my young compeers) was PROUD of their town and how they all felt a "responsibility" for keeping it good and making it better. I eventually came back to Aspinwall (to the old family house, built in '54 -'55) and my new bride arrived from Texas in 2000. We have totally rebuilt the house and we will be here for the rest of our lives. The sense of "community" is, if it is possible, even stronger now and the influx of young professional families has added to that feeling. We (Aspinwall) do so much together "as a community" that sometimes even I am amazed (our "work-in-progress" Riverfront Park will be opened this year - we just all got out and raised the money, and are donating our labor). Aspinwall is all about FAMILIES, pride and community involvement. We mow each other's lawns, we shovel snow from each other's sidewalks - we know each other and "take care" of each other. New resident should be prepared to "be involved".

Our "bookends" are our athletic field (to the west) and the UPMC St. Margaret Hospital (to the east) and of course the Waterworks shopping center beyond that. Many of us walk to the shopping center (weather allowing) but of course the bus service is very reliable. Ahhh, back yard cook-out season is upon us - this is bliss!

Thanks again for your response. JB
