rudest drivers i have ever come across, all in pittsburgh. its weird, because they are the slowest too, so you would think they would be slow OR rude. but somehow they pull it off every day. for some reason i also come into contact with a lot of people just stopped in the middle of the road. also, alot of people don't use turning signals at all, and i have even seen some use the WRONG signal when coming to a non 90 degree angle intersection.

I have no idea why Pittsburghers are such fearful drivers.

I'm almost always driving faster than the speed limit.

My husband gets white with fear when I'm behind the wheel.

I haven't seen a lot of accidents here... Maybe they're just so fearful of the resulting traffic jam... I've seen plenty of those!

Maybe the topography? I mean, you'd think we are used to it, but driving in Pittsburgh isn't exactly easy from many different points of views. The hills, mountains, plateaus, tunnels, bridges, sharp turns, steep climbs, poor road management, and crappy PennDOT all add up one pretty good recipe for disaster.
I have family that comes up from Florida and they hold onto the hand bars in the car for dear life. The turns and "tickle bumbs" (I LOVE tickle bumbs) make them extremely nervous. They are used to two things

Two reasons why we are riding the bus to the Pirates game tonight and have ridden every other night.

1. I don't want to wait 2 hours to travel less than 8 miles from my apartment.

2. There is no way I would ever park my car downtown.

How's that? There really are plenty of onramps here with stop signs at the bottom. Which part am I misunderstanding? I mean disregarding it is always an option, but PennDOT clearly intends for you to stop.

Pittsburghers are fearful of a lot of things. The funny thing is, their fear when they're driving is actually putting them in more danger.

A yield sign is not a stop sign. Pittsburghers can't seem to get that. Nor, can they understand the concept of a passing lane. A passing lane is for passing, not pacing the traffic beside you. A few years ago, Pennsylvania actually created a law against pacing in the passing lane. That law seems to have done nothing to fix the problem. I don't think the cops are really enforcing it. Probably because they do the same thing themselves.

My favorite is when I'm in the passing lane, going 10mph over the speed limit, and I come up on some idiot asleep at the wheel going 10mph under the limit. In this situation, I usually just pass them on the right side, if possible. I hold my breath every time I do this though, because on many occasions the person I'm passing decided to move over to the right lane, without looking to see if anyone's there or not. I've been run off the road a couple times doing this.

Then, when you beep your horn at people around here for daydreaming at a green light, a middle finger can usually be expected as a response. Nice.

The "Pittsburgh left" is just downright retarded as well. It makes no sense. All it does is tie up traffic. I especially like when I'm behind someone at a green light and they encourage multiple "Pittsburgh lefts" from oncoming traffic. Then I beep...and there comes the middle finger. I'm used to it, but sometimes I still wanna road rage on some of these people.

When I'm in Florida, I'm the one holding on for dear life. They might have flat, smooth roads down there...but they've got some CRAZY drivers. When I'm driving on a Florida interstate, I feel like all of the vehicles around me have drivers in them that have a cocaine IV mainlined into their veins. I drive fast...but Florida drivers FLY! And talk about reckless! I've seen some HORRIBLE crashes down there. Bad enough to keep me up at night.

When I'm driving north, I always breathe a sigh of relief as soon as I hit the GA border on 95.
