I was visiting some of my favorite houses in C-K on my way back from the post office and Breadworks; I came a flock of turkeys and was really surprised, as I haven't seen them in the city before. Anyone else?

There are lots of wild turkeys in the East End, so I am not surprised they are over there too.

I see the Mt. Washington turkey gang on East Sycamore right near the top at the intersection with Wyoming frequently. I've had to come to a dead stop driving from time to time because they ever so slowly strut across the road!

They are all over this area. I've seen them along the Jail Trail in the city. And a flock of turkeys regulary hang out on the Bayer campus in Robinson. Another flock lives in South Park.

I've seen them on Crane Avenue in Beechview, too. I'm assuming they live back in the Seldom Seen Greenway but make the occasional field trip across the road.

Random thought: does the City of Pittsburgh have an official city bird? And if not, could it name the wild turkey its official city bird? I think that would be cool.

I used to see them in "downtown" Mt. Oliver quite a bit as a kid.

When I lived in Oakland, there were often wild turkeys behind my house on Dawson Street, sometimes as many as 10-15 birds.
