Was it when the baseball game was letting out? I used it all the time for that purpose when I lived up there.

Inclines are oriented for travel between two specific points. While it would certainly be neat to have more inclines, a more connected system definitely more desirable. The old forum favorite of aerial gondolas is particularly suited to the places that used to have inclines.

Assuming rappelling isn't going to become a part of transit, I don't see how a gondola is less oriented to travel between specific points than an incline.

It's easier to have a network with aerial gondolas. If the goal is just to connect two specific points, there's no difference other than cost, but it's tough to have a funicular travel uphill, downhill, on flat surfaces, and go over water. Here's a proposed gondola map; it would be tough to cover the same path with a funicular.

A funicular that goes over flat surfaces is a train. A funicular that goes over water is a train on a bridge.

The "Just Ducky" tours would really come in handy as a means of commuting for South Hills residents the next time Route 51 floods! I can already picture a bunch of businesspeople using kazoos!

I suppose it really just depends on the situation. certainly a gondola is a good fit for the duquesne incline since it would connect to downtown rather than a parking lot.

That would indeed be nice. But, while we're one non-standard methods of transportation, I'd rather see an escalator up Heart Attack Hill.
