Does anyone have experience contesting a parking ticket in Pittsburgh? I am curious how much discretion the parking court exercises. I was ticketed for parking in a street permit parking zone outside my apartment. I always park in my driveway, however due to extreme snow/ice I could not safely navigate my car on my driveway, without hitting my apartment/other vehicle. My landlord is pretty good about caring for such situations, though he fell a bit behind. When I mean ice, I mean the driveway was incredibly slippery. I witnessed before leaving my apartment another vehicle struggle to navigate, nearly hitting the building.

When I returned from work at mid-night, I made the decision to park on the street. I was ticketed the next day for parking in a permit parking area. Should I contest this $45 ticket?

I don't think you have grounds to contest it. Also, a residential parking permit is $20. Something to consider.

Nope.
Get a permit instead.

If you really want to contest it get the permit first and show the court the permit. You might get a better result.

You'll have to take time off work, and risk the chance you might lose. I'd pay it and move on.

At the end of the day the parking ticket is cheaper than the hospital bill or car repairs you were trying to avoid. Just pay it. You were parked illegally regardless of why that was.

Pay the ticket. Then sell the car and live with less stress and hassle.

Give it to the landlord if he's supposed to clear the driveway.

In some cases, you can now contest the tickets online. I did this back in November. I think I was given the option when I went to the payment web site, https://www.dspayments.com/Pittsburgh and entered the ticket number and my license plate number. It allowed me to enter why I was contesting my ticket and to upload pictures. The response to the appeal was sent via US Mail. I don't know whether every ticket is eligible for this or not.
