There are plenty of home-grown anarchists and extremist libertarians that are part of the NRA-sponsored army providing just as much threat to the president and proper functioning of society. Shutting the borders against every immigrant group is not going to protect this society from terrorism and violence.

So the NRA is analogous to ISIS???

Assuming he believes so, it really undermines his argument of possibly allowing in fanatical individuals that he views as being as bad as the NRA

No. But individual members within its ranks are "analogous" to terrorists.

Let's turn it around. If we could turn back time, block the Italian immigrants from coming, and block the events measured from happening, would the trade off (not having millions of integrated Italian-Americans today who contribute a great deal to our society) be worth it?

I honestly understand the arguments that there's better ways to handle the refugee issue than house them in the U.S. I disagree, but I understand. I do not understand the need of some of the posters of "certainty" to not be killed by terrorism, considering that even if another September 11th happened, and 2,000 people died, your risk of dying in a given year from terrorism would be something like 0.0006%. You can reduce your own personal risk of dying a lot more by doing any number of things, like exercising, eating a healthy diet, driving less, or quitting smoking.

I'll actually agree with this, the difference however is that we weren't bringing in Italians (eastern europeanx & others) for any altruistic reasons but because we needed people to man the mills, mines & factories as there was a labor shortage here . Secondly, those countries did not have individuals who were in a de facto war with the U.S., nor was there any credible threat that said immigrants were coming for the sole purpose of killing westerners.

The alternative of completely closing our borders to immigration and huddling in fear is unrealistic and untenable. Ask Japan about their birth rate and how that's worked out with no immigration.

Luckily no one is advocating any such a ludicrous position here.

Actually the far right wing Christian groups have been advocating this for a while now. I believe Donald Chump said he'd do it on the first day if he were elected.
