Hi everyone,

As discussed in this thread (Subforum Happy Hour?), many regular posters seemed open to gathering for a happy-hour type meet-up. The Grist House in Millvale seemed to be a popular choice.

I have formed a Doodle poll to gauge availability/preferences: Doodle: Pittsburgh City-Data Subforum Happy Hour Meet-Up

I picked three Thursdays in September. I thought it would be easier to arrange this on a night other than Friday or Saturday, as hopefully the venue will be less crowded.

Per Grist House's schedule (SCHEDULE & EVENTS - Grist House Craft Brewery) - Berlin Street Food will be there each Thursday. (Berlin's menu:: https://www.facebook.com/BerlinStreetFood/menu ; reviews: https://www.yelp.com/biz/berlin-street-food-pittsburgh)

Please fill in your preferences using your city-data username on the Doodle. If you're uncomfortable doing so, please PM me your preferences and I will take them into consideration. On Tuesday evening, I will gauge the preferences of the respondents and then contact the venue to confirm it will be no problem for us (I can't imagine any brewery being upset about us bringing a group to hang out and drink their beer, but I think it would be polite and advisable to give the venue a heads-up to expect us).

Thank you!

Okay, I'll bite. It's going to be really hard to convince my spouse that we need to meet "the crazy people I argue with on the internet" in person, but I admit I'm curious to meet the regulars. I haven't been posting lately because...well, I got tired of certain debates going around and around in circles...but I do feel a general fondness for this group anyway.

FWIW, if we show up it will be on the early side and with our kids. Grist is pretty friendly for small kids and pets, which is a definite plus, especially if the weather is good and they can run around outside.

My (now) wife and I went to a PGH sub-forum meetup several years back, and she ended up getting a kick out of it. It turned out that her grandmother and one of the sub-forum regulars shared the same hometown. I've met up with PGH posters multiple times before and since, in groups large and small--sometimes coming alone, other times bringing offline friends. I've only had positive experiences with everyone and have even formed some close friendships independent of the forum. I say go for it as long as there are no other logistical issues in your way.

I'm sad I won't be in town to make it. Maybe I'll be just in time for the next one.

Yes, the 22nd is a winner. We'll go with that date!
I thought I'd have more interest in this, so was letting things go a bit past the self-imposed deadline.
However, let's mark the 22nd on our calendars!

The 22nd works for me. Looking forward to meeting everyone. I've connected with others from this forum in the past and made new friends.
