KDKA Investigates: SEIU Healthcare's influence over Mayor Ed Gainey's administration

“SEIU Healthcare has tried unsuccessfully to unionize those workers for more than a decade and two years ago became the primary backer of Mayor Gainey's election campaign. According to campaign finance filings, it spent more than $350,000 to elect Gainey, more than all other contributors combined.”

“Multiple sources tell KDKA-TV talks between the city of Pittsburgh and UPMC broke down, not over money, but over Mayor Gainey's demand that UPMC allow SEIU Healthcare to represent its health care workers, leaving a $40 million commitment from UPMC on the table.“

Here we go. What all are they going to find? Will it play out like Chief Harper?

SEIU worked diligently to elect the PA Governor. I would not be surprised if SEIU played a major role in the Pittsburgh Mayoral race. PA Democrats are beholden to SEIU and their effort. This appears to be politics as usual. Nothing earth shattering.

They obviously played a significant role in getting Big Ed as stated in the article, and then he quickly went after UPMC, and they also played a part in getting Summer Lee elected and she went after UPMC.

Earth shattering, no…but it certainly reeks of corruption.

UPMC and their tax exempt status has been on multiple administrations radar. This tax exempt issue is nothing new to city residents. SEIU did play a major role in the PA State and local elections. AND? Politics as usual. Their skin color does not negate the fact that these are politicians. Do you know what politicians do for a living? lol What is so earth shattering? Oh! I get it. These black uppity newly elected officials had the nerve to lobby......

Ummm get over yourself

Proof that their tax exempt status has been on multiple administrations radar like we’re seeing with Big Ed and Lee, and please be specific? After all, it wasn’t about money. “Multiple sources tell KDKA-TV talks between the city of Pittsburgh and UPMC broke down, not over money, but over Mayor Gainey's demand that UPMC allow SEIU Healthcare to represent its health care workers, leaving a $40 million commitment from UPMC on the table.”

Lol at politics as usual. Big Ed was funded huge money from SEIU and immediately went after UPMC. SEIU also endorsed Lee who after she won immediately went after UPMC. Certainly no coincidence.

LMAO at skin color as nobody implied any such thing other than you which is nothing new.

Love the deflection and obvious lack of comprehension as I never said it was earth shattering.

Always bringing race into it, and especially when folks don’t agree with you, and hilarious how you disregard the article because muh black newly elected officials. Big Ed has done all but nothing as Mayor other than going after UPMC, and Lee has done absolutely nothing but tout UPMC, other than clamoring for no cash bail to defend the poor entitled criminals. As you said, shooting and murders can happen anytime and anywhere now, the streets are paved with meth and fentanyl, etc… They should spend so much time keeping that from happening before it’s gotten so bad…but muh UPMC.

Who feeds your folk? My true response will most likely be censored by YAC but I already know the answer. What's good for the goose huh?
