It pisses me off when they call a hit and run an “accident “. Sorry once you leave someone for dead it should be call murder.

that would be 'manslaughter', i think. murder implies planned intent.

but its semantics. that is imagineable to leave a person there who've you hit!

could it be the driver did not actually know he hit the woman? its a worthy question. people drive their routes all the time with no abnormal situation. it could be he did not even SEE her, or was going at such a speed or trajectory that the impact did not resonate where he didnt think it was the wind, maybe.

just playing devil's advocate here, but of course this is not an excuse for the driver. i have NEVER been soft on bad driving and have ranted so many times about it. 99% of the time, nothing happens, but speed and inattentiveness probably contributed to this.

this is not without sensitivity to the deceased. i just always am questioning how/why people drive the way they do, so recklessly most of the time.

how no one is killed or how there are not more low speed collisions on Penn in the Strip is a miracle. SOme incredibly stupid, clueless, and confused drivers meander through there all the time.

I would guess that alcohol or drugs were involved and why the driver didn't stop. or possibly they have warrants outstanding for other crimes and stopping would send them to jail no matter what.

Keep bicycles off the roads, and the problem is solved.

Most who ride bikes are assh0les about it, and think the road belongs to them.

True, probably not premeditated, but just leaving someone for dead is sick.

Odd how people treat pedestrians and cyclists as just inconveniences to the selfish psychopaths driving around. They usually catch these people though due to the amount of cameras around.

At that time in the morning I'm guessing alcohol was involved.

A little patience can go a long way in sharing the road. Let’s think of the cyclists that can’t afford a vehicle and those that can’t “just go buy an electric vehicle” who are trying to reduce emissions and make a smaller footprint.

Hey look at that, I very much agree with erieguy. Cyclists should absolutely (and do absolutely) have a right to be on the road. Our country should move in the direction of more cyclist inclusion. An "assh0le" cyclist is pretty much only a threat to themself - and rarely a lethal threat to even the frailest of pedestrians. An a-hole driver is a deadly threat to all.

Ftr, I was recently hit by a driver who was not paying careful attention while I was cycling carefully and lawfully. I resent your description of cyclists as mostly "assh0les," h_curtis.

Lately I have seen a few people make left turns off of one way Penn from the right lane.
