They loved to rip down my hummingbird feeder and enjoy the sweet water. They are pretty strong as they broke the chain it was hanging on. Kind of cool they are roaming around.

Two comments here:

1. We took a Sunday drive out to Harrison Hills Park last year, and there was literally black bear crap scattered all over one particular field. I was pretty sure it was bear scat, but there just happened to be two county park officials there that day, and they confirmed as much.

2. The Schenley Park deer are darn near tame:

I encounter quite a few deer on the Mount Washington trails frequently. Must be there taking in the city views.

The city herd is huge as it has no predators. The Highland Park herd is probably starving as it is that big. Too bad the city doesn't take some out to feed the poor like the suburbs do. Glad I live in a community that is intelligent. Has to be tough in the city with....well the leaders we see lead.

I've seen black bears in the city limits. I now live close to North Park and have one in my yard evry year...at night but trigger light/cameras. TThey just raid the 7 bird feeders I have, bending the 5/8 rod holder flat to the ground.

I like seeing them. Actually, the racoons are a bigger problem. Keep you garage dog closed, especially if you have bags of dog/cat/bird feed in garage.
