You could always rent a car and make the hour drive to Youngstown's Mill Creek MetroParks

It's the nation's second largest urban park and it covers nearly 2,600 acres.

Here are some pictures i took at Fellows Riverside Gardens and Lanterman's Mill, both of which are just a small portion of the park.

I've never been to Mill Creek, but those pictures have completely sold me on putting it on the agenda.

Me too.

I was just in the Youngstown area last weekend (to pick up 2 free bunnies) and am going to Cleveland next weekend (Robert Pollard show). I also have zip lining in Hocking Hills on the to-do list. I guess I'll be spending a lot of time in Ohio for the foreseeable future.

Mill Creek is indeed awesome! But I must say, be careful in the neighborhoods surrounding it. You know this CortlandGirl, and I think you'd agree. Random crime isn't prominent, but it's not known to be a safest area of the city.

One could take the Greyhound from Pittsburgh to Youngstown and then hit Mill Creek.

I guess it depends which area of the park you're in. I don't go there very often, but if i do i usually go 680 to Belle Vista and that area still seems pretty nice. The park itself is safe as far as i know and i've never felt uncomfortable there. It's just like anywhere else, you just have to be aware of your surroundings.

If you cant get a car i would say Riverview is a nice city park that you can take a bus too.

If you can get a car....Laurel Highlands, Racoon, or Morain.
