Seriously, if someone hates the area they live in that much, make a change. Sheesh.

The Attitude of Pittsburgh. It has changed over the last 5 years. The city used to have a very down home feel, exactly what the rep was all about - The whole "we are family" feeling. Pittsburgh has become very East Coast and not for the better. I don't know if it is the new people moving in or elderly residents dying off or what. If this is what Pittsburgh was like when I was offered the deal to move here years ago, then I would have never have taken it.
Funny how you hate the Pittsburgh Left, but miss the “Old Pittsburgh.” The Pittsburgh Left is one of the most benchmarks of the Old Pittsburgh

However p*ssing and moaning about things you cannot change, like the weather, on a constant basis is not.

The only thing I really hate about Pittsburgh is the persistent dreary cloud cover that occurs in the winter months. It is downright depressing. People will say, "oh it's not so bad, the sun peaks through the clouds every couple of weeks." The weather people are also delusional and lie. On their little extended weather forecasts, they will always paint a mixture of sun and clouds, but every morning they amend their daily forecast to say that we will be socked in with clouds, flurries, and cold drizzle. It gives you false hope and when you realize the truth, it makes you just want to curl up in a ball and cry. The holiday lights help a bit, and if you were able to time your vacation to sprint out of town in jan or feb, that could break up the dreariness.

Other than that, I have no complaints. Pittsburgh gives you a lot of bang for your buck in terms of quality of life, housing values, cultural amenities, and access to the outdoors.

As posted in the "Where is the Sun?" thread, Pittsburgh Clear Sky Chart
This is not a weather forecast, it is for astronomers, who, of course, have their own reasons for clear-sky forecasts.

It's been very cloudy and dreary through most of the midatlantic and northeast the past few weeks - I've been traveling all around and it's been dreary almost everywhere every day. this year seems worse than most for cloudiness. but it's not just the Pittsburgh region.

Are you sure? I don't remember anyone talking about it in the early '70s. I first heard of the Pittsburgh Left -- and "yunser" being spelled "yinzer," for that matter -- when I came back in the '00s.

"If you live in southwestern Pennsylvania, when’s the last time you saw a shadow outdoors?

A review of weather data for the past 30 days shows the sky has been overcast or foggy every day except for three days near Thanksgiving and on December 7 and December 9.

We’ve had only five days with enough sunlight to make a shadow. Otherwise, we’ve seen only brief glimpses of sun.

Oh for a moment when the clouds are broken! It will finally happen this weekend. Check the Pittsburgh Clear Sky Chart(*) to see how long it will last.

When the sun comes out, I’m going outdoors to make a shadow of my own."

The thread is "10 things I hate about Pittsburgh", not "10 things Pittsburgh should change". The Pittsburgh Left certainly falls into both categories whereas the weather doesn't. What, is everyone supposed to come into a thread already designed for p*ssing and moaning and pretend it's all sunshine and puppies?

The Sky Chart seems to be pretty accurate, at 11:33 AM, I see sunshine and shadows outside.

Right^^^ Some would make you think that God is up there saying "PITTSBURGH IS A HELL WITH THE LID OFF! THEREFORE, THERE SHALL BE MORE CLOUDS AND DREARINESS OVER PITTSBURGH THAN ANYWHERE ELSE. IT WILL GET MORE SUN WHEN IT DESERVES MORE SUN!". It does not work that way. Weather patterns, created by God, are constantly moving. Anybody who has been looking at the radar the last few weeks will notice that most of the northeast has been "socked in."
