and the clarks are an odd case; they're HUGE here, but i'd never heard of them before i moved here, and i pay a lot of attention to music. i don't think they're very well known outside of pittsburgh.

Because they suck? No accounting for taste since "sucks" is a relative term. How about Tommy James and the Shondells, The Skyliners, The Vogues, Wild Cherry.

Trent Reznor is from Mercer... and he was in the high school marching band. I like him a lot but I always thought that was kind of funny.

Some of the Shondells were; Tommy James was not. Pittsburgh was the first place their record "Hanky Panky" hit the big time, awhile after the song was recorded.

Oh, and Dean Martin is from Steubenville.
